Pleated Blinds

Pleated blinds are an effective coverage for many window types

Pleated blinds are an effective coverage for many window types but are most commonly used as blinds in conservatories and as specialist ‘Perfect Fit’ and ‘Intu’ blinds. Free-hanging pleated blinds are beneficial inside the recess of widows as they give great coverage (edge to edge).

Perfect Fit or Intu blinds are very useful on limited space windows and internally opening windows as they fit with no screws to the glass space. These blinds are also inherently child safe.

For a total blackout option framed pleated blinds can cover nearly all window sizes.

Lantern blinds offer a great way of insulating your home in the winter and cooling in the summer.

The new Louvolite one-touch pleated option is a great way of offering motorisation for pleated blinds be they Perfect fit, Free-hanging or Lantern blinds.

Pleated blinds come in two main varieties. Firstly the single pleat or ‘Plisse’ style is one piece of fabric with a hole punched in for the cords to run through. The second option is the ‘duette’ style, sometimes known as honeycomb pleated as the fabric is pleated in both directions and this offers good blackout and or insulating properties to this type of blind.

Plus side: Full window coverage with this blind as the blind fits edge to edge within the recess.

Down side: No flexibility. Ability to control light is less than with vision blinds, venetian blinds and vertical blinds.
